PVVAC's Membership Information Page

PVVAC is always looking for new members (Youth Corps, Senior Corps, and Associates). Are you interested?

The Youth Corps. If you are between the ages of 14 and 18, you may join PVVAC's Youth Corps.  Members are trained in CPR and First Aid for medical emergencies and at the age of 17, Youth Corps members may ride on actual calls under the supervision of Senior Corps members. The Youth Corps participates in drills, parades, and community functions with the Senior Corps, in addition to social activities of its own. Youth Corps members may move up to the Senior Corps at age 18.

The Senior Corps. If you are 18 or older, you may join PVVAC's Senior Corps as a Probationary Member, moving to full Riding Membership in a year or less. No prior experience is required. You will learn CPR, First Aid and other life saving skills. You may advance your training by taking New York State EMT (Emergency Medical
Technician) or CFR (Certified Responder Course) classes, for which the Corps will pay, but these classes are not mandatory.
As a member, you are not obligated to respond to calls unless you have signed for a time on the roster, normally a few hours a week at your convenience. An ambulance crew in a medical emergency consists of three people: an EMT, a driver, and an attendant. A Youth Corps or Probationary Member may be a fourth member of the crew.

Associate Members. For those people who do not want to become involved with patient care, we have an important and essential group of Associate Members. These individuals assist the Corps with administrative tasks. They hold administrative offices such as Secretary, Treasurer, or member of the Board of Directors; they help with the fund drive, record-keeping, correspondence, and other “paperwork”; and they assist the Captain and other line officers.

Would you like to learn more about joining PVVAC?   If so, you may contact our Membership Committee by calling 845-526-3119 x258. Be sure to leave your name, telephone number, and the best time to contact you.

Come to a meeting! You may find out more about us by coming to one of our monthly membership meetings, which are held at 7:30 pm at the new PVVAC Headquarters at 218 Oscawana Lake Road on the 4th Wednesday of the month, January through October. In November and December, they are held on the second Wednesday. Meetings are preceded by a light supper at 7 pm. Join us!
